1) Inked Magazine

This magazine talks about tattoo celebrities, fashion, local events, shows, expos, and much more. The online site is full of photos, inked girls and so much more. 'culture.style.art' is what they stand for.




2) Tattoo Magazine

This publication had no online site available, but this magazine is still distributed. This magazine holds all the questions and answers about tattoos, has lot's of images, interviews with tattoo artists and much more.

3) Skin Art Magazine

This online publication is all about featuring new and popular tattoos. The magazine also features crazy tattoos, religious tattoos and much more.

meaning of star tattoos

For every tattoo design, there's a meaning. These designs can range from symbols, shapes, numbers, animals or just about anything people ask for. Out of all the designs, one of the popular ones are stars. Stars can even get technical regarding type, size, structure and more. Alabama tattoo artist Jaymz from Hubpages.com found the top two star style tattoos and what they mean.

Shooting stars tend to be associated with a moment in time that left a lasting impression, whether a short romance, special event, a person, job, anything that may have changed the person's life.

Before modern navigation sailors navigated by using the stars- usually the North Star. They often got tattoos of nautical stars in a superstitious sense, hoping that the star would help them get home safely.

The nautical star is often a symbol of protection and guidance. Some see nautical stars as a means to create your own path.

Nautical stars are often referred to as compass stars, which were similar to the nautical star in that sailors used them to help guide their way in the night.

tattoos vs. the workplace

Finding a job during today's economy is tough, finding a job while sporting tattoos is even more tough.


According to the online publication Business Smarts, a recent US poll reported that 36 per cent of 18-25-year-olds and 40 per cent of 26-40-year-olds have at least one tattoo.



The article goes on to talk about that tattoos have become more mainstream and the audience is over 50 years of age these days. Also, it states that "some employers encourage employee displays of body art as a form of self-expression, but many others worry that their employees' visible body piercings and tattoos may be off-putting or even offensive to customers, investors and the public at large,"

Tattoos are universal, and represent many things to and on many people. So escape from reality for a few days and dive into the 2010 Alberta Bound Tattoo and Arts festival.

The 2010 Alberta Bound Tattoo and Arts Festival runs from October 9-11 at the Shaw Conference Center located on 9797 Jasper Ave NW.

tattoos and stretch marks?

Angelas Smith for Ezine Articles reports that people are finding themselves using tattoos to cover stretch marks vs. using "lotion or potions."

She gives a guideline of tattooing over stretch marks, including:

1. The age of the stretch marks. If your stretch marks are less than 1 year old, you should wait to have them tattooed. Usually, the color of stretch marks will fade from a pink or purple to a more silvery flesh tone after the first year.
2. Find a tattoo artist, who is experienced in tattooing over scars/stretch marks. As him/her how many of these types of tattooing he/she has done and if they have any pictures of the final design after it was finished. Maybe they have collected testimonials from them that you can read. Sometimes, your doctor may be able to refer you to someone.
3. Have your tattooist start out with a small design that, if the tattoo does not take well, you can live with. This is a test site, and you should be able to tell how well your scarred skin will take and hold the tattoo ink.

As with any scar, getting a tattoo over sensitive skin in that state can be more painful vs. a tattoo on clear skin. More on this story is also found at the BioCutis Blog
